With rumors spreading on the web about the RIM Blackberry Playbook release date, one online mobile retailer has already listed the tablet for pre-order. Mobilecityonline has listed the 7-inch Playbook on it’s website for pre-order at a price of $599.99.

Now I am not sure if this is a gimmick to get into the market early or if they are really going to price the playbook at $599.99.

The site however listed no release date for the device. It listed the expected arrival date as no “ETA at this time.”

Blackberry Playbook release date rumors

Web rumors speculate the launch date for the Blackberry Playbook to be sometime late March. However other sources place the release date for the RIM tablet to be April 10th, 2011.

No one can be sure of the release date until something official comes out. However, I am tempted to believe the April 10th release date as this information comes from a source that is well known for accurately predicting the release date for upcoming devices.

With the price of the Playbook, we I have seen reports speculating the entry model to be priced under $500, which will put it on par with the iPad 2.

However, the listing on mobilecityonline.com lists the retail price for what I believe is the basic model at over $800. This I don’t believe will be the case as this will greatly disadvantage it against a vastly superior iPad 2.

We do not have confirmed release date for the Blackberry Playbook yet but we will keep you updated and let you know as soon as we receive an official launch date for the device.
