Apple iPad 2 release date dawns
The new Apple iPad 2 will be released next week March 2nd, 2011. And to mark the day, it is being rumored that Apple will team up with the BBC to hold an event on the date of the release. These will be two separate events to mark the release but both events will take place at exactly the same time.
If the speculations are true, we can expect some sort of video chatting between the two companies via the new iPad 2.
The speculation is given more fuel by the the revelation by The Inquirer in the UK that, the BBC event will be hosted by notable Apple junkie and actor, Stephen Fry. He is one of the lucky few who got the iPad 1 before even media in the U.S. did.
There has been rumors by electronista that we should expect to see some FaceTime on the new iPad 2 during the events. This is because one of the new features on the iPad 2 will be the incorporation of a camera which was missing on the first version. It is also being speculated that the BBC will also be using the event to promote their new iPlayer app.
See below for the official Apple invitation to the event for UK residents. We can’t waif for the release date of the iPad 2.
